INDIANAPOLIS (October 18, 2011) – Indianapolis-based Harrison College announced today that it will offer deeply discounted veterinary services to military personnel through its School of Veterinary Technology.  Anyone possessing a current military identification card is eligible for the program, which will be held Oct. 21 from noon-4pm.  Appointments are necessary, and can be arranged by calling (317) 873-6500.

The services offered will include Basic Wellness/Routine Check-Ups, Canine /Feline Vaccinations and Microchipping (including registration).  A nominal fee will be charges to cover Harrison College’s costs to provide the service (see service and fee chart below).

Harrison College’s Indianapolis Northwest campus, located at 6300 Technology Center Drive, will serve as the host.  Students and faculty from the college’s School of Veterinary Technology – including Dr. Elizabeth Clark – will perform the veterinary procedures.

The program is being offered to fill a void that was created when the Fort Knox Veterinary Treatment Facility discontinued offering services in central Indiana.  Those services had previously been offered monthly to the local military community at Fort Benjamin Harrison.  Harrison College officials have indicated that they will consider offering the services on a regular basis if there is a demand for it.

“Members of our nation’s armed services give so much to our country, and Harrison College wants to give something back to them,” said Dr. Myra Jones, Interim Dean of Harrison College’s School of Veterinary Technology.  “This is just a small token of our gratitude.  But if we can make their lives easier in any way, it’s certainly worth the effort.”
