INDIANAPOLIS – Harrison College (www.harrison.edu), a private sector college with more than 6,000 students studying at 12 campuses and Online, announced today that it will offer a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Management at its Elkhart campus beginning with its January 2012 Quarter.
The program is specifically designed for people who have already attained an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. What makes Harrison College’s program offering unique is its flexible schedule. Students are required to attend class only once every two weeks – a two hour block every other Saturday – while the remaining coursework is completed online. Instructors are available to tutor students every Saturday. Most students will complete the degree program in two years (7 quarters).
“Our decision to offer a B.S. in Business Management is based on feedback we received from the community,” said Justin Elliott, president of Harrison College’s Elkhart Campus. “Many business leaders – including those that serve on our advisory board – have indicated that a bachelor’s degree is desired for many of the positions they have open at this time.”
“As the Elkhart Community continues to diversify, I am pleased to see that Harrison College will be offering a B.S. in Business Management that can be offered to Adult Students looking to grow,” said Rachelle Shuff, Service Center Manager for Teachers Credit Union in Elkhart. “This type of degree with flexible scheduling and an accelerated program for students will benefit the growing changes in the workplace. Harrison College listened to our local community and responded with an excellent program.”
Harrison College believes that the flexible scheduling option will prove to be very popular. “For someone who is currently working and trying to raise a family, pursuing further education can be difficult,” Elliott said. “Sometimes, there aren’t enough hours in the day. But if you can complete the majority of your coursework online and attend class for only two hours every other Saturday, obtaining your bachelor’s degree becomes more manageable.”
Harrison College offers 38 programs in five schools of study (Business, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, and Veterinary Technology) and through its culinary division, The Chef’s Academy. Harrison College alumni are eligible for lifetime employment assistance from the college.
